Optical Tube Assemblies
The unique thing about these OTA’s is they can be used for White Light, CaK, or nighttime use with the addition of the proper filters or accessories. We have used the Lunt Engineering logo on these scopes to differentiate them from dedicated H-alpha solar telescopes with the Lunt Solar Systems logo. Lunt Engineering is a division of Lunt Solar Systems. You can now buy one telescope for viewing both the Sun or the nighttime sky. This makes these telescopes versatile and cost effective. You never have to worry about safety with the proper Lunt attachment for viewing the Sun.

My Lunt ED 80mm telescope delivers beautiful diffraction-limited images and is a joy to use. There is no false color, and it is finished to a high quality standard. The sliding dewshield and focuser work well, and the telescope arrived well collimated. Lunt customer support has also been terrific. I am very happy to have made my purchase through Lunt.

I use this telescope exclusively with a B1200 Ca-K filter and with the 2″ lunt solar wedge + baader continuum filter. In both cases, there is enough in-travel for a William Optics binoviewer (with 2x barlow nosepiece) and enough out-travel for prime focus imaging with a ZWO ASI-174 camera. The focuser feels solid and the optics seem clear to my eyes.

I purchased this telescope to use for calcium K and solar continuum imaging. I of course did take it for a night time visual spin the first clear night. False color is very well controlled and barely noticeable on axis. The scope holds power well for an 80mm doublet. Fit and finish are great. Focuser is pretty good. Case is a nice bonus. This is an exceptional scope for the price. I am very pleased with all my Lunt products.
