Description
The New Lunt 80 mm Universal Telescope is a powerhouse modular telescope, taking one of Lunt Solar Systems most popular sized telescopes and making it even more functional! At 80mm Aperture, with a FPL53 Doublet Lens, the 80 mm Universal Telescope is a precision aligned ED refractor that is made to impress whether you are chasing the Sun’s active regions or sifting through the stars of the milky way.
In Hydrogen Alpha configuration single stack mode, the 80 mm Universal Telescope provides excellent viewing prowess at <.65 Å bandpass with Lunt’s renowned Doppler True Tuning (pressure tuned) system. But don’t sleep on its capabilities simply because the Sun goes down!
And after sunset, let the stars and planets shine! Conversion from hydrogen alpha mode has never been easier: Remove the hydrogen alpha module (and attached pressure tuner) from your telescope optical tube assembly (OTA), and replace with the focuser of your choice.

Steve Henderson –
With cycle 25 heating up I thought it was time to upgrade from my 16 y.o. SolarMax 60. I’ve had it a month now. I got mine with the Feathertouch focuser and a B1800. Of course the 20mm more of aperture and the larger blocking filter- over the BF10 of the SolarMax gives a larger brighter image. I like the pressure tune system over the tilt type. It seems to provide finer tuning ability to squeeze out more detail. And not having a central obstruction provides an evenly illuminated field of view. Both contribute to a great view. One day I got a 3D view of a filament rising off the surface near the edge. I had never seen that with the SolarMax. Build quality is very good. I like the look of the white pearl finish on the tube with the red and black anodizing.
