Lunt 50mm Aperture (Standard) Double Stack Filter
The Lunt Solar Systems LS50F is a double stack filter made especially for the Lunt 60mm h-alpha Solar Telescope.
The 50F is the smaller of 2 front mounted Double Stack Filters available for the 60mm Solar Scope. Both Filters reduce the bandpass to <0.5 Angstroms. However, the 50F reduces the aperture of the scope by 10mm in diameter. This has the effect of having a slightly dimmer view when compared to the 60F.
The 50F contains a 10mm smaller Etalon than the 60F and is priced lower as a result for those that want a DS systems and are willing to give up a little aperture.
While a DS 60mm telescope with a 50mm Filter may have the same aperture as the 50mm Telescope. The 60mm Telescope version is far more imager friendly.
The 50F lowers the bandpass of the 60mm Solar Telescope to less than <0.5 Angstroms.
The 50F contains a 50mm UNOBSTRUCTED Etalon.
The 50F simply screws into the front of the 60mm Solar Telescope. (no adapters required)
The filter assembly has an integral ERF (Energy Rejection Filter) which removes 100% of harmful UV and a significant portion of the IR radiation.
The 50F is a tilt tuned filter. Before adding the 50F to your 60mm Solar Telescope you must tune the internal pressure tuned filter for maximum detail prior to installing the secondary filter. Once the secondary filter is installed turn the small tilt wheel at the base while looking through the telescope at low to medium magnification. Tune for best detail. Some very minor adjustments can then be done to the internal pressure tuned or internal tilt filter via small rotation of the PT knob or tuning wheel to optimize the details of interest.
